Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology

The Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology (CEAE) strengthens applied epidemiology across the Eastern Mediterranean Region. It builds the public health workforce, supports Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), advances applied and operational research, and promotes knowledge exchange that enhances countries’ ability to detect, investigate, and respond to public health threats.

The Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology (CEAE) strengthens applied epidemiology across the Eastern Mediterranean Region. It builds the public health workforce, supports Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), advances applied and operational research, and promotes knowledge exchange that enhances countries’ ability to detect, investigate, and respond to public health threats.

 

As a cross-cutting center within EMPHNET, the CEAE brings several core areas of work under one platform, including workforce development, FETPs, research and policy, e-learning, and the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH). Through this integrated structure, CEAE supports countries in strengthening national competencies, improving real-time data use, and institutionalizing applied epidemiology as a central component of resilient health systems.

 

We established the CEAE in response to regional needs for skilled epidemiologists, stronger surveillance and response systems, and evidence-based decision-making. By working closely with ministries of health and national institutions, the center promotes sustainable training systems, builds research capacities, and supports the translation of data into action across all levels of public health practice.
